The NEAR secretariat visited Pohang Accelerator Laboratory on February 17, Wednesday, as a part of Cultural experience. The secretariat first watched a promotion video of the Laboratory, and took a look around PLS-II, the 3rd Generation Light Source. As the secretariat listened to the explanation of the light source by the guide, they asked a few questions related to its creation and application ways in Northeast Asia. The tour continued as looking at the 1.1 km long 4th Generation Light Source which marks the World’s 3rd Light Source and is about to be used soon. Secretary General JUN has said, “Through this visit, the NEAR staff, especially from other countries of China, Japan, Mongolia, and Russia will be able to learn much about the accelerator facilities in Pohang and promote cooperation in science & technology among the member regions.”
