The 15th NEAR Subcommittee on Disaster Prevention was held in Hyogo Prefecture from March 6 to 9. Additionally, on March 6, NEAR Secretary-General Jun Jae-won met with Vice-Governor Kazuo Kanazawa to introduce NEAR and its projects.
Secretary-General Jun stated that the meeting had been held successfully, and that effective strategies on disaster prevention developed in Hyogo Prefecture would be of great help to NEAR members following increased interest after the outbreak of earthquakes in South Korea.
Vice-Governor Kanazawa said, "With the support of translation and interpretation carried out by the NEAR secretariat, we were able to successfully hold the subcommittee meeting and I would like to make an effort to invite more regional member governments to participate next year."
