NEAR Director General Welcomes Delegates from Jilin Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Shanxi Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region2023-10-27

On October 24, Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin met with delegations from Jilin Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Shanxi Province, and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, who were visiting Ulsan Metropolitan City to attend the 14th NEAR General Assembly. 


 

Mr. Lim expressed his gratitude to the delegations from various provinces and regions of China, led by ZHAO Shuxin, vice governor of Jilin Province, ZHANG Zhanjun, deputy director-general of the Energy Bureau of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and HAN Taifan, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shanxi Province. He stated that this year's General Assembly was the largest event ever, with 22 vice-governor-level officials and 34 director-general-level officials from 52 member regions. He also praised the active operation of the Subcommittee on International Exchange of Human Resources of Jilin Province and the Subcommittee on Energy and Climate Change of Shaanxi Province. He congratulated the establishment of the NEAR Subcommittee on Energy Cooperation of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which is expected to lead the cooperation of local governments in Northeast Asia in the energy industry in the coming years. 


In response, Mr. Zhao said that Mr. Lim had been very helpful to the exchange and cooperation between Jilin Province and Korea during his time as a consul-general in Shenyang, and asked for his continued support through NEAR. 



Mr. Han also introduced the development status of the low-carbon green energy industry in Shanxi Province. He expressed his willingness to strengthen cooperation with member regions in this field through the Subcommittee on Energy and Climate Change. 



In addition, Mr. Zhang expressed his gratitude to the NEAR Secretariat for its active support in helping the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region successfully establish the Subcommittee on Energy Cooperation at this meeting. He noted that he would strive to ensure that the subcommittee operates well.
