The NEAR Secretariat (Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin), as part of its efforts to support the Hunan Provincial People's Government in hosting the 1^st NEAR Subcommittee on Innovation Plus, sent invitation letters to its member regions to encourage their participation. The subcommittee is scheduled to be held in Zhangjiajie City from October 22 to 24.

As of today, October 15, 55 persons from 22 NEAR member regions across five countries, excluding Hunan Province, and three partner institutions have expressed their intention to participate. The presenters include the officials from Okinawa Prefecture (Japan), Gyeongju City (South Korea), and Ulaanbaatar City (Mongolia), and Khovd Province (Mongolia).

Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin will deliver congratulatory remarks at the inaugural meeting of the 1^st NEAR Subcommittee on Innovation Plus and discuss ways to promote exchange and cooperation among NEAR members during the NEAR members’ meeting session. He will also be engaging in the talks with the Secretary of Zhangjiajie City, and in the meeting with representatives of NEAR member regions.

This year’s NEAR Subcommittee on Innovation Plus, to be hosted by Hunan Province (subcommittee coordinator) for the first time, will feature the theme “Sustainable Development of Tourism and Ecology,” covering a wide range of topics related to innovation area.
