On September 26, NEAR Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin attended the 1st Liaoning International Friendship Cities Trade Matchmaking Symposium and delivered a congratulatory remarks in Shenyang, Liaoning Province.

Mr. Lim stated in his remarks that “This year’s symposium is a highly meaningful event that serves as a multilateral cooperation platform for the local governments, business people, and associations from around the world,” and appreciated Liaoning’s efforts to promote mutual development and peace through friendly exchange and cooperation.
Li Lecheong, governor of Liaoning Province, said in his welcome remarks that “Liaoning Province signed agreements on friendship cities with 93 cities from 32 countries, and established friendly cooperation partnership with 254 cities from 64 countries. Today’s event has been organized in order to build multilateral cooperation platform for the international friendship cities.”

Ambassador Xing Haiming stated in his congratulatory speech that “Liaoning Province has committed itself to the establishment of an open, cooperative hub in Northeast Asia by promoting high-level opening policies in the international community and pursuing high-quality development. I hope that the event would lay a foundation to build a solid community dedicated to mutual exchange and development for the international sister cities.”

Yoo JeongBok, mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, stated in his congratulatory remarks that the cooperation among sister cities must be continuously strengthened in order to ensure the values of mutual interest and development, and emphasized the importance of promoting cooperation between South Korea and China not only at national level but also at local level.
The symposium was designed to discuss matters of international friendly exchange and the cooperation in the economic trade area, which was attended by nearly 300 participants from 48 countries, including Li Lecheong, governor of Liaoning Province; Xing Haiming, Ambassador for Asian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China; Kanasugi Kenji, Japanese Ambassador to China; Hashmi Khalil, Pakistani Ambassador to China; Kumoch Jakub, Polish Ambassador to China; Chimed Chuluun, governor of Uvs Province; Yoo JeongBok, mayor of Incheon City, as well as representatives from Liaoning’s international friendship cities, businesspeople, and ministries of foreign affairs in China.
