On September 22, Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin attended the “Korea-Japan Festival 2024 in Seoul” (Executive organizer: Sohn Kyung Shik, CEO of CJ Group), which was held at COEX, Seoul.

Mr. Lim congratulated Koichi Mizushima, the Japanese ambassador to South Korea, who sponsored the festival. He then shared with the outcomes of his recent visit to Japan, provided news on the upcoming 14th NEAR High-Level Working Committee, and requested continued support for NEAR.
The event was also attended by other major figures of Korea—Yoo In-Chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea; Kang In-sun, Second Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; Choi Sang Yong, former South Korean Ambassador to Japan; Yoo Heung-soo, former Ambassador to Japan; Lee Byung-ki, former Ambassador to Japan. Mr. Lim greeted them and introduced NEAR.

The Korea-Japan Festival, which began in 2005 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan during the “Year of Korea-Japan Friendship,” is the largest private exchange event between the two nations with the aim to promote bilateral friendship. The theme of the event is “The Flower of Friendship Blooming at the Festival.” The Korea-Japan Festival 2024 in Tokyo is scheduled to be held on September 28 and 29 in Tokyo.
