NEAR Secretary-General Attends the 2024 World New Energy & New Materials Conference and Gives Congratulatory Remarks

On July 26, NEAR Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin attended the opening ceremony of the 2024 World New Energy & New Materials Conference and the NEAR Subcommittee on Energy Cooperation, which was hosted by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region at the International Convention Center in Ordos City, and delivered his congratulatory message.



The 2024 World New Energy & New Materials Conference, under the theme of “New Quality Productive Forces, New Driving Forces for Economy,” featured a variety of events, including the opening ceremony, exhibitions, two conferences, two presentations, and three sub-forums. It was participated by more than 1,500 representatives from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, enterprises in energy sector, universities, and local governments.




The opening ceremony started with the congratulatory remarks by Du Huiliang, mayor of Ordos city, Francesco La Camera, secretary-general of International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Lim Byung-jin, secretary-general of NEAR, Yang Jin, vice chairman of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Then the unveiling ceremony of the NEAR Subcommittee on Energy Cooperation followed with the lead of NEAR Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin.



In his congratulatory remarks, Mr. Lim acknowledged the crucial role that the 2024 World New Energy & New Materials will play as the national-level event in promoting the co-prosperity of the world’s energy industry of Northeast Asia through exchange and cooperation. Additionally, he promised his full support in developing the NEAR Subcommittee on Energy Cooperation (coordinated by Inner Mongolia) into the NEAR’s flagship subcommittee.



On July 27, the NEAR Secretariat staff members, alongside with the participants, visited the most excellent-performing enterprises at the new energy industry cluster in Ordos city, including the photovoltaic demonstration zone in Tianjiao, Envision Group, and Longi Silicon.
