On July 21, CHOI Ju-hwa, director of the International Cooperation Department at the NEAR Secretariat, met with ZHAO Hongbin, deputy director general at the Foreign Affairs Office of Liaoning Province, in Seoul. They engaged in a discussion related to the 14th High-Level Working Committee, which will be held from September 24 to 27.
During the discussion, Ms. Choi emphasized that, since the High-Level Working Committee is the most important NEAR event of the year, prompt action is needed as the scheduled date is only two months away. This includes finalizing the event schedule and content, as well as sending invitation letters to NEAR member regions. She also promised the NEAR Secretariat’s full support to ensure the successful holding of the event.
Mr. Zhao responded that Liaoning Province is taking this event very seriously, and the vice-governor of Liaoning Province will attend every session of the High-Level Working Committee. He also provided a detailed plan from Liaoning Province for both the NEAR High-Level Working Committee and the NEAR Subcommittee on Digital Economy. Additionally, he mentioned that this year’s High-Level Working Committee will be held in conjunction with the Liaoning International Investment and Trade Fair, a national-level event in China.
Mr. Zhao also requested active support from the NEAR Secretariat to encourage other NEAR member-regions to attend the Liaoning International Investment and Trade Fair with their business leaders, as the fair is going to involve more than five thousand participants. This year, the fair will feature the International Friendship Cities Trade Fair as a sub-event for the first time ever.
The NEAR High-Level Working Committee is an event attended by director-level officials of the member regions. It is hosted by the NEAR chair one year before the NEAR General Assembly to discuss important NEAR agendas.
