The NEAR Secretariat (Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin) made its fullest efforts to encourage the member-regions’ participation in the 1st NEAR Subcommittee on Energy Cooperation, which is scheduled to be hosted by the People’s Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in Ordos City from July 26 to 27.
Currently as of July 16, 30 government officials from 17 member-regions of 4 countries have applied to participate (2 from Japan, 8 from South Korea, 19 from Mongolia, and 1 from Russia.) Gangwon State of South Korea and Tomsk Region of Russia have applied to give a presentation during the event.
The NEAR Subcommittee on Energy Cooperation is being held for the first time this year, after the People’s Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China’s major province in energy sector, proposed the idea to establish the Subcommittee on Energy Cooperation during the NEAR General Assembly in Ulsan last year.
