On June 26, Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin delivered a special lecture to the 60+ staff members of the Pohang Medical Center, under the theme of “Understanding China and its Culture.”
In his lecture, Mr. Lim said that China, like Japan and Russia, is a country closely tied to Korea in historic, cultural, and economic senses, exerting significant influence on Korea’s development and security. He emphasized that, in order to build a matured relationship between China and Korea, the peoples of the both countries need to know and understand each other precisely, providing some of the characteristics of Chinese culture: the country's geography, history, politics & diplomacy, ethnic composition, unique values and mindset of the people, and behavior patterns. At the end of the lecture, Mr. Lim took questions from the audience.
Founded as a self-help center in 1939, the Pohang Medical Center has been contributing to the local community as a regional hub public hospital, by operating integrated nursing and caregiving services, palliative care, and negative pressure isolation room. The center hosts special lectures on a monthly basis.
