On May 29, the NEAR Secretariat visited Pohang High School and delivered an education program on the Russian culture for nearly 40 students of the school, aimed at enhancing international understanding for the local teenagers in Pohang. The program on the day was prepared by the Russian language communicator and the seconded official from Russia working at the NEAR Secretariat.
The program included the introduction to Russia, main tourism sites, customs, and the Russian NEAR member regions. It also provided an opportunity for the students to experience Russia’s traditional folk games and food.
Kim Seung-hyuk, a dedicated teacher for cultural education at Pohang High School, said “The program has given a great opportunity for the local students to heighten interest in Korea’s neighboring countries and to enhance understandings of the international community."

The education program is scheduled to be delivered 3 times more at Pohang High School, on the cultures of China, Japan, and Mongolia, throughout 2024.
