NEAR Secretariat staff members participated in the 6th Coastal Development Forum held at the POSCO International Hall on June 9th (Thur.) and 10th (Fri.) At the forum hosted by the Ministry of Ocean and Fisheries, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, and Pohang City, various presentations and discussions were held under the theme of ‘Effects of the usage of the coastal area for economic growth in the East Sea Rim.’ Following the keynote speech by the former Minister of Ocean and Fisheries Yoon Jin-sook, various topics on the protection strategies, development of technology, and case studies of effective environmental maintenance were presented. NEAR Secretary-General Jun Jae-won mentioned at the forum that he hoped that NEAR members would be able to reach a break though in the form of economic growth in the East Rim through effective development and protection of the coastal area. . Following the main forum, on June 10th, the Secretariat staff visited the Pohang Canal and took the cruise along with other participants of the forum.
