〇 The 11th 「Ulaanbaatar Dialogue」 international conference, which focuses on security issues in Northeast Asia, opened in Ulaanbaatar on June 4.
〇 Approximately 300 participants attended the conference, including representatives from about 30 countries and international organizations, as well as experts from academia and research institutions both at home and abroad.
〇 In a special keynote speech at the opening ceremony, Korean Minister of Unification Chung Dong-young stated, “while economic and people-to-people exchanges in Northeast Asia are closely interconnected, conflicts continue to persist in the political and security spheres.” He added, “the challenge facing Northeast Asia is that it has not yet established an institutional framework for regional peace.” He also praised Mongolia's important role in promoting regional peace and dialogue.
〇 During the two-day conference, discussions are expected to focus on five main agenda items including security challenges and peacebuilding in Northeast Asia, Preventive diplomacy and mediation, Artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging security threats, Connectivity between Northeast Asia and Central Asia, the development of a green energy corridor.
