○ Gyeongsangbuk-do carried out a six-day administrative and technological training program on new renewable energy from May 11 to 16 for officials from Ulaanbaatar

○ This training program was organized as part of the “Joint Cooperation Agreement on Eco-friendly Energy Supply and Green City Development” between Gyeongsangbuk-do and Ulaanbaatar. Discussions focused on plans for developing Bayanzurkh District into a future energy self-sufficient city, joint cooperation measures to support overseas expansion of local renewable energy companies, major renewable energy policies, and exchange and cooperation projects. In addition, the current status of Gyeongsangbuk-do’s energy industries, including nuclear power, hydrogen, and solar energy, was introduced to strengthen the foundation for mutual cooperation.

○ Participants also visited major institutions and industrial sites, including POSCO, fuel cell power plants, the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government Office, Yeongcheon Agricultural Technology Center, solar power plants, and the Korea Energy Agency, where they directly observed eco-friendly energy policies and operational technologies.

○ The program is expected to serve as an opportunity to establish a practical foundation for expanding cooperation in the eco-friendly energy sector and promoting sustainable green city development between Gyeongsangbuk-do and Ulaanbaatar.

Meanwhile, the NEAR Secretariat provided Mongolian interpretation support throughout the entire program, facilitating smooth communication and exchanges while serving as a bridge for promoting cooperative projects between the two regions.
