On June 2, Ms. Hong Seojin was appointed as the new English Specialist at the NEAR Secretariat. She received her letter of appointment from Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin and officially commenced her duties.
Ms. Hong majored in English Language and Literature at Gyeongsang University and completed her master’s degree in the Korean-English interpretation and translation at Seoul University of Foreign Studies. After obtaining the master’s degree, she joined the National Fishery Products Quality Management Service and gained practical experience by handling interpretation and translation work related to fishery exports and imports.
As a member of the Department of International Cooperation, Ms. Hong will be responsible for liaison with associate member governments, the Young Leaders Forum, regional research and related English translation and interpretation works.
Ms. Hong expressed her determination to communicate closely with colleagues and contribute to the Secretariat’s advancement and harmony based on her expertise by embodying the values and vision that NEAR aspires to uphold.
