Introduction

Bao Gang

From April 23 to May 3, 1947, the Inner Mongolia People's Congress was held in Wangyemiao (now Wulanhaote). The meeting on May 1 became the anniversary for the establishment of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. 32 villages, 1 county and 3 county-level cities were installed and the autonomous government was established in Wangyemiao.
In November 1949, by the approval of the Central People's Government Premier Zhou Enlai, the autonomous government moved to Zhangjiakou.
On July 5, 1969, the Hulunbeiermeng, Zelimumeng and Zhaowudameng belonged to Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning provinces respectively and Ahlashanzuoqi and Ejinaqi belonged to Ningxia. Gansu Province and belonged again to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
