History
- Originally, the Land of the Peninsula were inhabited by indigenous people of the Russian Far East (Koryaki, Chukchi, and Itelmeni).
 - 1956: Kamchatka Region separated from Khabarovsk Territory.
 - 2008: Changed to Kamchatka Territory.
 
Topographic Feature and Characteristics
- There are more than 160 volcanoes in the region, including 28 active ones, a large number of mineral and hot springs, mud volcanoes, and boiling lakes. Kamchatka is also rich in rivers and brooks - more than 14 thousand. Great number of them has length of 10 km, only 105 rivers - more than 100 km. The Penzhina, Avacha, and Bolshaya are the major rivers in the region.
