On Thursday, August 30, a delegation from the NEAR Secretariat supported and participated in the "Festival for Global Citizens to Understand Multicultural Education." The event was organized by the Idong High School in Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, which is also home to the NEAR Secretariat. This event was designed to help students adjust to multicultural society, and view diversity positively and foster a united mindset fitting in a global society through playing traditional games from a variety of different countries.

The delegation was headed by Director Park Sung-min and seconded officials from China, Mongolia and Russia. Erdenebileg Azzaya, seconded official from Mongolia introduced “Shagai,” a traditional game using animal bones, and Yu Miaomiao, seconded official from China introduced “Tiao Zhu Qian,” a counting game with wood sticks. Staff members of the Pohang Multicultural Family Support Center also introduced traditional games from the Philippines.
