NEAR Secretary-General Meets with Governors of Mongolian Member Governments Attending the 15th General Assembly

On June 12, NEAR Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin held a luncheon meeting in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China, with the governors of Mongolia’s Bulgan Aimag, Dornod Aimag, Dundgovi Aimag, Tuv Aimag, and the vice governor of Sukhbaatar Aimag, all of whom were in attendance at the 15th NEAR General Assembly.

 

Secretary-General Lim expressed his sincere gratitude to the Mongolian governors for taking the time to attend the General Assembly despite their busy schedules. He emphasized that the NEAR Secretariat places great importance on cooperation with Mongolian member governments. 


He also noted that seven public officials from Mongolian regions were selected to participate in the 2nd NEAR Training Program for Member Government Officials, and that one student recommended by a Mongolian member government is currently enrolled as a master's degree scholar at the Park Chung Hee School of Policy and Saemaul at Yeongnam University. He further requested continued active participation from Mongolian members in future NEAR activities.



Governor Munkhchuluun of Dundgovi Aimag expressed appreciation for the successful and high-level hosting of the General Assembly and expressed hopes that a Mongolian member government would serve as the next NEAR chair, following the Republic of Buryatia.

 

Governor Purev-Ochir of Bulgan Aimag praised NEAR as a vital platform where member governments from seven countries, despite their economic differences, can learn from each other’s successful practices and development experiences.

 

Vice Governor Batbaatar of Sukhbaatar Aimag expressed his appreciation for the NEAR training programs for public officials and voiced his hope that public servants from Sukhbaatar Aimag would have opportunities to participate in such training programs.

 

Meanwhile, during the General Assembly, Governor Munkhchuluun of Dundgovi Aimag and Governor Yel of Dornod Aimag each delivered congratulatory remarks at the opening ceremony and the Liaoning International Sister Cities Conference, respectively. Tuv Aimag also gave a presentation on its international cooperation efforts.
