The 2025 NEAR Member Workshop Set to Take Place with 132 Participants from 52 Member Governments and Relevant Institutions from 6 Countries

The NEAR Secretariat completed the participant registration process for the 2025 NEAR Member Workshop on January 31.


This year, a total of 132 participants have registered for the Workshop event, including 46 regional governments from 6 countries and 6 relevant institutions—including Russian and Mongolian Embassies in Korea, Consulates General of China and Japan in Jeju, the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), and the Governors Association of Korea. The breakdown of participants by country is as follows: 12 governments from China, 4 governments from Japan, 13 governments from South Korea, 13 governments from Mongolia, 3 governments from Russia, 1 government from Kyrgyzstan, and 6 relevant institutions.


A total of 26 key participants will attend the event, including Governor Oh Young-hoon of Jeju Province, 6 Deputy Governors from Mongolia and Russia, the Russian Ambassador to South Korea, the Mongolian Ambassador to South Korea, the TCS Secretary-General, the Consuls General of China and Japan in Jeju, representatives from the Governors Association of Korea, the Ambassadors for International Relations in Korea, and the director-level executives from the NEAR member governments.

   

This year’s Workshop will feature a report on NEAR's key activities, an introduction to the Subcommittees scheduled for 2025, and a session for promoting policies of NEAR member governments. There will also be meetings and discussions on the future direction of NEAR. Additionally, the workshop will include Member-to-Member Dialogue session to foster practical exchanges and build friendly cooperative relationships among the Northeast Asian regional governments.


The NEAR Member Workshop has been hosted by the NEAR Secretariat since 2007 to explore ways of exchange and cooperation among NEAR member governments. This year marks the 17th edition of the event.
