Recommendation Letter to Register 'Iwami Ginzan' as a World Cultural Heritage was Accepted

The recommendation letter to enroll Iwami Ginazan as a world cultural heritage was officially accepted at UNESCO in January.

Japanese government submitted the recommendation letter in August last year to register Iwami Ginzan, which is located in the middle of Shimane Prefecture, as a world cultural heritage.

Shimance Prefecture aims to register Iwami Ginzan as a world cultural heritage under the name of 'the Heritage of Iwami Ginzan and its Cultural Landscape' in 2007 after receiving site examination and probe this fall.  If registered, Iwami Ginazan will be the first industrial heritage in Asia.
