Publication Ceremony of Autobiography written by Governor Lee Eui Geun of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province Took Place.

   The publication ceremony of "Listen to the Witness of a Himalayan Cedar", a autobiographical memoir written by Governor Lee Eui Geun of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, was held on February 27 at Sejong Center, Seoul.  The ceremony resulted in a resounding success with 3,000 guests representing various fields of politics, economy, religion, journalism and civil organizations.  The autobiography contains his experiences in administration, the vision, strategies of  governing the province and several untold anecdotes, which he gained from his life as a government official for 45 years and as a governor for 12 years.

   At the Conference of Northeast Asian Regional Governments held in Gyeongju City in 1996, Governor Lee Eui Geun made the confernece into a formal international organization, and elevated and established the Association of North East Asia Regional Governments.  He was the first chair of the association. At the 5th Heilongjiang General Assembly in 2004, he officially proposed to establish a permanent Secretariat of NEAR, hosting the interim Secretariat in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and opening the permanent office of the Secretariat in Pohang City.  He made significant contributions to enhance exchanges and cooperation among local governments in Northeast Asia and to further coprosperity and Development in the region.
