The third Sino-U.S. Energy and Environment Forum was held in Changsha City on December 4. The forum was co-hosted by the Changsha Provincial Government, Tongji University and the New York State University Stony Brook Campus. The meeting was attended by Wang Kemin, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of Commerce of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, representatives from the governments of China and the U.S., universities, scientific research institutes, and well-known corporations. At the forum, various lectures focusing on environmental problems such as air pollution, building sponge cities, and sewage treatment were given. ”The two countries are facing climate change and energy and environmental challenges. As the United States is a major player in environmental management protection, it advances in establishing policies and developing technologies. Meanwhile, as China focuses on building an energy-saving energy-friendly society, related theories and studies and technical support will required,” said Xu Bin, Vice Dean of College of Environmental Science and Engineering at Tongji University.
