On March 18, Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin of the Association of North East Asia Regional Governments (NEAR) delivered a video congratulatory message at the opening ceremony of the 7th Korea-China University Student Language and Culture Exchange Program, held at Yeungnam University.

Consul General Chen Il-pyo of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Busan also delivered a video message for the event. Approximately 70 attendees, including Professor Lee Chun-young, faculty members from the Department of Chinese Language and Culture, and Korean and Chinese students, participated in the ceremony.

In his message, Secretary-General Lim stated that “at a time when the Northeast Asian geopolitical environment and Korea-China relations are facing challenges, mutual exchange and cooperation remain essential values that must not be abandoned.” He added, “At the heart of such efforts is the communication and exchange led by you — the youth, our future generation.” He concluded by expressing his commitment to “continue supporting sustained exchange between Korean and Chinese youth for the peace and prosperity of Northeast Asia.”

The Korea-China University Student Language and Culture Exchange Program is a recurring initiative jointly organized by the Chinese Students’ Association and the Department of Chinese Language and Culture at Yeungnam University. The program aims to promote mutual cultural understanding and language proficiency between youth from Korea and China. This year marks the seventh year of the program.
