On Wednesday, March 12, LIM Byung-jin, Secretary-General of the Association of North East Asia Regional Governments (NEAR), hosted a dialogue and exchanged opinions concerning issues such as the hosting of the 2025 NEAR General Assembly with the delegates from Liaoning Province. The delegation was headed by LUO Li, Director of Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Liaoning Province, who participated in the 2025 NEAR Members Workshop held at Lotte Hotel Jeju.

Emphasizing that the 15th NEAR General Assembly, to be held in Liaoning Province, is the most important event of NEAR, Mr. Lim provided an update on current status of high-level guest invitations to ensure the success of the assembly.

He also stressed that the NEAR Provincial Governors’ Meeting is of great importance for the development of NEAR. In addition, Mr. Lim stated that this year’s workshop will be the largest workshop to date, with over 120 participants from 46 NEAR member governments in six countries and from six related institutions. He expected Liaoning Province, as the Chair Government, to directly extend high-level invitations and engage in practical exchange with other NEAR members during the workshop.

In response, Ms. Luo expressed her deep appreciation to Secretary-General Lim for his efforts in ensuring the successful hosting of the general assembly in Liaoning Province. She provided details of the preparations being made by Liaoning Province as the Chair Government and assembly host. In addition, Ms. Luo expressed her hope that the general assembly would serve as an opportunity to expand further exchange between Liaoning Province and other regional governments in Northeast Asia.

The 15th NEAR General Assembly, NEAR’s most important annual event, will be held at the Friendship Hotel in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, from June 11 to 13 this year.
