The NEAR Secretariat actively assisted the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of China in preparing the 2025 NEAR Subcommittee on Tourism, scheduled to take place in Zhongwei from September 11 to 13. The Secretariat distributed invitations to member governments (excluding China), encouraged participation, and assisted in securing speakers.
As of September 3, a total of 59 participants from 22 governments and organizations across six countries had registered to attend, excluding the host, Ningxia. These include 16 member governments, two observers, one applicant government, and three related organizations. Presentations will be delivered by representatives from Daegu Metropolitan City (Republic of Korea), Okinawa (Japan), and the Republic of Buryatia (Russia).
High-level officials are also expected to attend, including one governor (Khövsgöl Aimag), two deputy governors/vice premiers (Dornogovi Aimag and the Republic of Buryatia), and eight department director-level officials from Jiangxi, Henan, Hunan, Shandong, Okinawa, Sukhbaatar Aimag, the Republic of Buryatia, and the Turkistan Region.
The three-day program will feature a meeting with Ningxia’s leadership and a welcome banquet on September 11, followed by the opening ceremony, subcommittee sessions, and field visits on September 12.
The NEAR Subcommittee on Tourism is jointly coordinated by Henan Province and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. This year’s event holds particular significance, as it marks the first time Ningxia will host the subcommittee.
