- Governor Hu Yuting of Jilin Province, received distinguished overseas guests attending the 4th Northeast Asia Cooperation Roundtable. -
On Sunday, August 25, Hu Yuting, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Governor of Jilin Province, met in Changchun with key overseas delegations attending the 4th Northeast Asia Local Cooperation Roundtable.
The group meeting was attended by NEAR Secretary-General, Lim Byung-jin; Lee Hee-seop, Secretary-General of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS); Yeo Jung-hyeop, Vice Governor of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province of Korea; Park Yang-woo, former Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea; Kang Haeng-gu, Acting Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Shenyang; Le Tumurchudur, Governor of Tuv Aimag, Mongolia; Jijikheng Saynchog, Vice Governor of Selenge Aimag, Mongolia; Ravil Akhmetshin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation; Ma Jung-su, Consul General of the DPRK in Shenyang; and Takashi Hamada, Consul General of Japan in Shenyang, among other distinguished guests. On the Chinese side, participants included Lu Xiangdong, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Liu Kai, Vice Governor of Jilin Province; and Liu Wei, Secretary-General of the Provincial Government.
Governor Hu introduced Jilin’s recent economic and social achievements, emphasizing that the Roundtable have, since its inception, played a significant role in building mutual trust and strengthening cooperation among local governments in Northeast Asia. He underscored the importance of expanding cooperation in fields such as auto parts, green hydrogen and renewable energy, petrochemical new materials, modern agriculture, and technological innovation. He also highlight the need to enhance connectivity through transport infrastructure; and deepening cultural and tourism exchanges for mutual benefit.

In response, Secretary-General Lim remarked, “Since hosting the Northeast Asia Expo in 2005 and joining NEAR in 2014, Jilin Province has played a central role in regional cooperation, including co-hosting the Roundtable with NEAR since 2019. This 4th Roundtable, the largest to date, will marks an important milestone for Jilin in leading and promoting local cooperation in Northeast Asia.” He also highlighted NEAR’s growth into the largest multilateral cooperation platform for local governments in the region, now comprising 91 member governments from nine countries. Secretary-General Lim reaffirmed the Secretariat's commitment to working closely with Jilin to contribute to further shared prosperity and peace in Northeast Asia.
Other overseas representatives echoed their commitment, acknowledging Jilin’s strong industrial base and momentum toward high-quality development, and expressed their intention to actively promote shared prosperity in Northeast Asia through practical cooperation in the economic and industrial sectors, as well as through cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

Following the official meeting, Vice Governor Liu Kai hosted a welcome dinner for all participants of the Roundtable.
