On April 21, WANG Xinwei, the governor of Liaoning Province, the NEAR Chair Government, sent a reply letter to Lim Byung-jin, the Secretary-General of the Association of North East Asia Regional Governments (NEAR).
Governor WANG Xinwei expressed gratitude to Secretary-General Lim and the NEAR Secretariat in his reply. He also emphasized that Liaoning Province had actively promoted intergovernmental exchanges since joining NEAR in August 2021 and successfully hosted the 14th High-Level Working Committee Conference in 2023. He stated their commitment to promoting the development of NEAR, providing diverse exchange platforms for various fields, including trade and cultural exchange.
Governor WANG Xinwei stated, “We look forward to further deepening intergovernmental exchanges and cooperation through NEAR. We will spare no effort to ensure the successful hosting of the 15th General Assembly in June this year, based on the successful holding of last year’s High-Level Working Committee Conference.” He also expressed hopes that this meeting would be an important opportunity to promote cooperation and development among local governments in Northeast Asia.
Liaoning Province is the Chair Government of the 15th General Assembly and has played a significant role in the development of NEAR. After LI Lecheng, the former provincial governor of Liaoning Province, was appointed as the Secretary of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, WANG Xinwei became the governor of Liaoning Province and is currently serving as the Chairman of NEAR.
