On Friday, September 19, Choi Ju-hwa, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the NEAR Secretariat, together with Secretariat staff, attended the Reception Celebrating the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China at Paradise Hotel Busan. They attended on behalf of NEAR Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin, who was on an official mission to China.
The event was hosted by Consul General Chen Ribiao, and brought together more than 250 participants, including the Consuls General of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Vietnam in Busan, the Consul of Mongolia, foreign dignitaries, the Chairperson and members of the Busan Metropolitan Council, officials from Busan City Hall, university presidents, and as well as representatives from the business community, the overseas Chinese, and international students.
In his congratulatory remarks, Consul General Chen emphasized, “China and Korea must uphold the spirit of their diplomatic ties, strengthen friendly relations with neighboring countries, and expand shared interests. The Consulate General will work together with the local community to ensure that bilateral relations develop in a stable and healthy manner.”
On behalf of the Secretariat, Director Choi extended congratulations to Consul General Chen and Deputy Consul General Wu Weibi, while also presenting NEAR’s recent activities. She reaffirmed NEAR’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Chinese member governments to promote shared prosperity across the Northeast Asian region.
Director Choi also engaged in discussions with Consul General Dudnik of Russia in Busan and other international participants on opportunities for mutual exchange and collaboration.
