On September 11, during the 2025 NEAR Sub-Committee on Tourism held in Zhongwei, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, NEAR Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin held a bilateral meeting with Vyacheslav Sukhorukov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Buryatia, to discuss on future cooperation.
Secretary-General Lim began by expressing his appreciation for Deputy Prime Minister Sukhorukov’s participation in the Sub-Committee on Tourism. He also discussed the possibility of holding the Sub-Committees on Traditional Medicine and Tourism concurrently with the General Assembly and Senior Officials Meeting during the 2025–2027 NEAR chairmanship.
In response, Deputy Prime Minister Sukhorukov expressed his gratitude to NEAR for the invitation and affirmed that, as the NEAR chair government, Buryatia would do its utmost to ensure the successful organization of the General Assembly, Senior Officials Meeting, and the concurrent sessions of the Sub-Committees on Traditional Medicine and Tourism.

He also noted that he would closely observe the current Sub-Committee meeting to draw valuable lessons for the preparation of the Sub-Committees on Traditional Medicine and Tourism, which are scheduled to be hosted in Buryatia next year and the following year. Furthermore, he emphasized Buryatia’s commitment to working in close cooperation with the NEAR Secretariat to ensure the successful hosting of the General Assembly and other related events.
