On February 6, Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin visited the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Yokohama and met with Consul General Kim Ok-chae. During the meeting, Mr. Lim acknowledged that Mr. Kim’s efforts, during his tenure as the previous NEAR Secretary-General, had laid a strong foundation for NEAR’s quantitative and qualitative growth that have been made today. Mr. Lim also provided updates on recent NEAR developments, the participation status of Japanese member governments in NEAR activities, and this year’s NEAR event plans. Additionally, he requested Mr. Kim’s cooperation in promoting and introducing NEAR to the Japanese regions under the consulate general’s jurisdiction.
Welcoming Mr. Lim’s visit to the Consulate General, Mr. Kim expressed his delight at NEAR’s growth as the former NEAR Secretary-General. He also pledged the consulate general’s active support in promoting NEAR to the regional governments under its jurisdiction and encouraging them to join NEAR membership, to the best of its ability.
