On April 2, Jin Ki-hoon, Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee for the 2026 World Masters Athletics Championships Daegu (2026 WMAC DAEGU), visited the NEAR Secretariat to request its cooperation in promoting the event and encouraging participation among NEAR member governments for the successful hosting of the Championships, which will take place from August 22 to September 3.
The World Masters Athletics Championships is an international athletics competition for amateur athletes aged 35 and over, held every two years since 1975. The 2026 WMAC DAEGU will feature a total of 34 events across track, road, and field disciplines. Registration is open through June 23 via the official website.
The NEAR Secretariat plans to distribute the registration information to its member governments in China, Japan, and Mongolia to encourage participation in the Championships.
