Results of the 13th NEAR Youth Art Contest Announced

On November 7, Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin from NEAR Secretariat announced that, in cooperation with the Pohang Branch of the Korea Fine Arts Association, it selected a total of 156 winning works for the 13th NEAR Youth Art Contest through a rigorous external evaluation process.


This year’s contest was held under the theme “Drawing symbols or characters of a Northeast Asian country you would like to visit, other than your own.” A total of 754 works were submitted by youths from 37 regional governments across five Northeast Asian countries, demonstrating a high level of interest and participation.


The Grand Prize was awarded to Otgonchuluun Khulan from Ulaanbaatar City, Mongolia, for her work “The Shining Origin of Culture,” which was highly praised for its completeness and sincerity.



15 Awardees of First, Second Prize


The Gold Prizes were awarded to five participants, including Feng Pulin from Hunan Province, China, for “Swan Lake” and a participant from Tomsk Oblast, Russia, for “Festival of China.”

The Silver Prizes were awarded to ten participants, including Li Qiyun from Hubei Province, China, for “Parade at Red Square, Russia,” Zheng Zhixi from Hunan Province, China, for “Lotus in Deep Sleep,” and Miku Yoshida from Toyama Prefecture, Japan, for “Leshan Giant Buddha.”

The Bronze Prizes went to twenty participants, including Liang Ziqi from Anhui Province, China, for “Sketch of a Japanese Dream,” Han Yarui from Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China, for “Russian Folktales,” and Lee Chan-woo from Chungcheongbuk-do Province, Korea, for “Festival of Light in China.”

In addition, 120 works received Honorable Mentions, including “Goblin Girl” by Im Sun-young from Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Korea, and “Chinese Dim Sum Friends” by Kim A-ram from Pohang City, Korea.


This year, the contest also introduced a new Outstanding Institution Award, which recognized five institutions for their active participation, past achievements, number of submissions, and overall contribution to the contest. The awardees were Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Hunan Province of China, Toyama Prefecture of Japan, and Tomsk Oblast and Irkutsk Oblast of Russia.

The NEAR Secretariat will send certificates and prizes to the winners, as well as certificates of participation and commemorative gifts to all participants, through each member regional government by December.
