〇 A delegation led by Mayor Choi Min-ho of Sejong Special Self-Governing City visited Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, on Tuesday, April 15, and met with Governor Takatoshi Nishiwaki. The two sides explored avenues for cooperation, focusing on urban development, smart city initiatives, and cultural exchange.
〇 During the visit, Mayor Choi stated that the two cities had taken concrete steps toward cooperation in smart city development and cultural affairs. He emphasized that Sejong City would further expand its international engagement by leveraging its capabilities as a future-oriented city and its cultural potential.
〇 This meeting was arranged as a follow-up to the proposal made by the Vice Governor of Kyoto Prefecture during the Korea–Japan Governors’ Meeting in November 2023, where cooperation on smart cities with Sejong was suggested. The visit aimed to develop this proposal into practical cooperation.
