A delegation from Andong City in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, headed by Lee Young-sik, visited the NEAR Secretariat on August 27 to meet with Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin. The delegation encouraged Mr. Lim’s support for the establishment of the World Humanistic Cities Network (WHCN) that the city is currently promoting.
The WHCN aims to build a network of cities with a focus on humanities values, based on the Human Values Forum organized by Andong City since 2014. Currently, 21 cities in South Korea and 20 cities abroad have expressed support for the establishment of the network, and discussions are now underway with eight cities and international organizations.
