○ According to the Chinese General Administration of Customs’s website, starting from June 1, it was announced that the port of Vladivostok in Russia can be used as a transit port for the promotion of aging infrastructure in the northeast region and the logistics convenience of domestic trade products in China.

○ This measure is a follow-up action to the “Joint Statement on the Key Directions of China-Russia Economic Cooperation for 2030,” signed by President XI Jinping and President Vladimir PUTIN in March.

○ With this measure, the logistics costs of Jilin Province and Heilongjiang Province in the northeast region of China, which have been struggling due to the lack of ports, are expected to be reduced. It also anticipates the strengthening of the industrial supply chain linkage between the Changchun-Jilin-Tumen development project, known as the “Changji-Tu Belt,” in Jilin Province and the Far East region of Russia, as well as the expansion of logistics between cities in the Pan East Asia region.
