New Governor for Chinese NEAR Members : Heilongjiang Province, Shaanxi Province, and Shanxi Province2023-02-01

New governors of Heilongjiang Province, Shaanxi Province, and Shanxi Province took office last January. LIANG Huiling, former deputy secretary of Party Committee and chairman of Board of Directors of China National Supply and Sales Cooperation Headquarters was named as the governor of Heilongjiang Province. ZHO Gang, former secretary of Yan’an city was named as the governor of Shaanxi Province. Furthermore,JIN Xiangjun, former deputy secretary of Tianjin city took office as the governor of Shanxi Province.


Heilongjiang Province is a founding member of NEAR, exercising decisive voting rights in the official launch of NEAR in 1996 and the establishment of the NEAR permanent Secretariat in 2005. Since 2017, it has served as the coordinator of the Logistics Subcommittee. In addition, it has been playing a leading role in the development of NEAR, such as seconding government officials to the NEAR Secretariat three times since 2012.


Moreover, Shaanxi Province and Shanxi Province simultaneously joined NEAR as members at the 11th General Assembly in 2016. Since then, Shaanxi Province has served as the coordinator of Traditional Medicine Subcommittee since 2018, while Shanxi Province has taken the coordinating role for the Energy and Climate Change Subcommittee. In doing so, they contributed significantly to vitalizing exchange and development among NEAR members.


Secretary-General LIM plans to send letters of congratulations on their inauguration and ask them to participate in the 14th General Assembly scheduled to be held this year and request for their continued support for the upcoming activities of NEAR.
