Russian Resident Officer Rebus Igor Is Inaugurated at the NEAR Secretariat on September 72021-09-07

Rebus Igor, the chief specialist of the Department of External Affairs and Protocol of the Governor’s and Government Administration of the Altai Region, was inaugurated as the Russian resident officer on September 7. He received a letter of appointment from Secretary-General Kim Ok-chae and started working at the Secretariat.


After earning his Master’s degree in International Law from Altai State University, Mr. Rebus worked as a government officer in the Altai Region for four years where he was in charge of external affairs.



In the Department of the International Cooperation of the NEAR Secretariat, Mr. Rebus will be in charge of liaison and coordination with Russian member regional governments. He stated that he was well aware of the NEAR Secretariat’s roles to strengthen exchange between member regional governments in Northeast Asia. He expressed that he would do his best and contribute to the development of the NEAR Secretariat.


Notably, Mr. Rebus has participated in the K2H (Korea Heart to Heart) program three times, a project held by the Gangwon-do provincial government, South Korea, to invite officials from world local governments and provide training. He is expected to perform his job successfully at the NEAR Secretariat with his deep understanding of the Korean community and culture.



Meanwhile, Sleptsova Irina, who had worked as the Russian seconded officer at the NEAR Secretariat since October 2020, left office on August 15. Secretary-General Kim commended her hard work at the Secretariat and presented her with a commemorative plaque.
