Secretary General Kim Ok-chae Visits Miyagi Prefecture and Iwate Prefecture2019-11-04

Secretary General Kim Ok-chae and a delegation from NEAR held a meeting with Endo Shinya, Vice Governor of Miyagi Prefecture on November 1 and gave a presentation on NEAR’s establishment, the current state of international exchange, and its role as a platform for multilateral exchange. He also made a request to join NEAR as a member.


Recalling his first meeting with Secretary General Kim in Jilin Provice, China last year, Vice Governor Endo expressed his agreement of NEAR’s usefulness and stated that he would decide whether to join as a member through internal review.


In addition, Secretary General Kim gave his sincerely condolences on the enormous damages inflicted on Miyagi Prefecture by typhoon No. 19 which hit the region at the end of September and expressed his wishes for the prompt restoration of the region. Vice Governor Endo expressed his hopes that many Korean tourists would visit the  Olle walking trail being set up within the jurisdiction.


Meanwhile, the delegation visited Iwate Prefecture on November 1 and requested the Head of Department, Sasaki Shinichi to consider becoming a member of NEAR, and gave a presentation on NEAR’s establishment, the current state of international exchange, and its role as a platform for multilateral exchange.
