The NEAR Secretariat held the 2016 NEAR Secretariat (Fall) Workshop from October 27 to 28 for two days in Yanggu and Sokcho in Gangwon-do Province, and the East coastal region. During the Workshop, there was a time of discussion and opinion sharing with regards to the development of NEAR and capacity-building of the staff members. Furthermore, the Secretariat staff members visited Eulji Observatory near the Military Demarcation Line to enhance their understanding of the political situation of the Korean Peninsula. They also visited Mt. Seorak, and Naksansa to experience various cultural aspects of Korea. Secretary-General Jun Jae-won stated at the workshop that the ideas expressed by the NEAR staff members at the workshop would be actively reviewed and applied. He also encouraged everyone at the NEAR Secretariat to continue working hard to elevate that status of NEAR, making it the best international organization in Northeast Asia.
