NEAR Secretariat staff members made a site visit for the mutual investment and economic exchange among the regions in Northeast Asia. The delegation headed by the Under-Secretary-General Lee Sang-gi specifically visited the Creative Economy Innovation Center and a branch of the Japanese company, Ibiden Graphite Korea. During the first visit to the Creative Economy Innovation Center, the Secretariat listened and learn about the founding history of the center and its main activities and achievements so far. The foreign staff members showed interest in innovated products such as the instant water heater, the 2015 Korean Creative Economy Awards receiver, as well as asking questions with regards to the possibility of utilizing the products in each country. The group then moved to Ibiden Graphite Korea, located in the Industrial Complex exclusively for foreigners in Youngil, Pohang City. Here, they watched the promotion video and listened to the presentation on the founding history of the Korean branch,as well as living standards of foreign residents. Lastly, the Secretariat shared various opinions on the practical exchanges on the mutual investment at local level in Northeast Asia. Foreign staff of NEAR stated at the visit that “It was a meaningful time since we were able to visit the sites of mutual exchange, and we are looking forward to seeing more places like this.” The NEAR Secretariat will try to encourage mutual prosperity within the region to boost mutual investment long term, providing more opportunities for foreign staff to visit related institutions and organizations.
