History

  • Khuvsgul Province was established in 1931 in the north of Mongolia.

Topographic Feature

  • Khovsgol Aimag belongs to Khangai Mountain Region. Middle Mountains, a branch of Khangai Mountains, includes Khovsgol, Tagna, and Sayan mountain. The altitude of the top of Delgerhaan is 3,491m. Our Aimag is located in a place with a height of 1,650 ~ 2,050m.

Geography/Climate
  • Area : 100,628㎢
  • Location : It borders Russia to the north, Zavhan, Bulgan, and Arhangai Aimag to the west, east, and south.
  • Climate : Climate in Khovsol Aimag shows significant daily temperate difference. Average temperature and the highest temperature in July, the hottest month in a year, are 15°~20° and 34°, respectively. Average temperature and the coldest temperature in January, the coldest month in a year, are -24°~-49° and -49°~-52°, respectively. Annual rainfall is 300~400mm in the north and 200~300mm in the south. Most of rainfall is distributed between July and August.
